Professionally, had some luck with this:

900 Mhz P to P..  we proved it works over a 78mi path… max throughput is 650Kb

Hmmm.  The RTL-SDR and better SDR solutions generally cover the 900
MHz band.  It should be possible to get an idea just what the local
noise issues are.
