One follow on.. is there a public network diagram? I see the map on the sight, but it doesn’t really show what IP space is being used where and how its connected.
I do full table routing on my network here– so when integrating this in (particularly without dynamic routing) I need to know what ranges hamwan is handling.. from AMPR I can see:
44.25.0.0 / 16
44.24.221.0 / 24
44.24.240.0 / 20

Is all that space accessible from Beacon Hill? Or is there “islands”?

Jake,

That’s a great signal and CCQ figures. Yes, it’s expected that they drop off when not in use. The modem backs off automatically if there’s not a need.

With regards to a static IP/subnet, when you know what you need/want and things are stable, reach out to netops at hamwan.org<mailto:netops at hamwan.org> and one of the admins will help you out. The backbone does run OSPF, but we don’t have client connections participate directly in the backbone for security/reliability reasons.

I probably need to do a little bit of a better job aligning the dish, but 70dB SNR should be plenty. I am noticing though, that without data being passed my CCQ and rates drop way off… its been a long time since iv played with MT wifi gear, but I assume this is expected?

Does anyone on the network want to test connection/ping to me? Current IP is 44.25.131.214

Question; I will want to get a static IP allocated here (one for the dish, and one for my router ideally)… and if I recall reading right Hamwan uses OSPF for internal routing.. Once I sort out my 44. Allocation I would love to get that advertised onto the network. Who do I talk to about those things 😉?
